Ending long term homelessness by 2016
Housing Led Policy
In February, Minister for Housing and Planning Jan O’Sullivan set 2016 as the target for ending long-term homelessness. The Dublin Region Homeless Executive welcomes this announcement as it reaffirms committment by Government to solve homelessness through a housing-led policy.

Rough Sleeper Count 16th April - Volunteers required
The Spring Count 2013 on the number of persons sleeping rough in Dublin will take place on Tuesday April 16th into the early morning of Wednesday April 17th 2013.  The Count takes place from 1am to 5am across Dublin City Council's Administrative Area. All participants would need to arrive in advance  at 11.30pm (Parkgate Hall) for briefing session and coordination of street count areas

EU Discussion on Homelessness
Six principles agreed
Minister for Housing and Planning Jan O’Sullivan, TD welcomed the positive outcomes of the EU roundtable meeting on homelessness on March 1st this year. The purpose of the discussion was to bring added focus to the EU’s involvement in the area of homelessness, to identify, evaluate and build upon common areas of interest and to discuss issues of possible future cooperation among Member States towards addressing and tackling the issue of homelessness.

Permanent On-Site Supported Accommodation
4 Dublin Local Authorities

From the 1st May this year,  the agreed framework for permanent on-site supported accommodation will be implemented across the 4 Dublin Local Authority areas, (Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council).

Dublin City Council Housing Support Services will take the lead role in the implementation of the of changes in this area. The changes will include the development of a centralised process for the notification and filling of vacancies within permanent on-site supported, and employing case management protocols with alternative options of accommodation to respond to the changing needs of service users. Policy will continue to be progressed in accordance with any agreed practises developed within permanent on-site supported
