Dublin Peer Review Report by Habitact

On 4-5 April 2013, representatives from 10 cities peer reviewed the Dublin “Pathway to Home” model.  It also compared the model with other local models in the peer cities with a particular focus on Edinburgh, Espoo, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Odense and Bolzano.

Young People's Homeless and Housing Pathways
Key findings from a 6 year qualitative longitudinal study
In July, the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Frances Fitzgerald formally launched "Young People's Homeless and Housing Pathways". This study which was carried out by the Children's Research Centre and funded by us and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs involved three phases of data collection over a 6 year period with homeless children and young people in Dublin City.

Youth Homelessness Strategy
A Review
The Youth Homelesness Strategy which was published in 2001 underwent a high level review which was to establish the extent to which the strategy had been successful, to identify blockages and challenges to its implementation and to make recommendations.

A minimum of 94 persons confirmed as sleeping rough in Dublin

The Dublin Region Homeless Consultative Forum and Management Group notes that there were a minimum of 94 persons confirmed to be sleeping rough on the night of the most recent count held in April 2013.[1]

Pathway Accommodation & Support System (PASS)
National Rollout

The national rollout of the Pathway Accommodation and Support System (PASS) is continuing in June 2013 as the South East, Mid West and Midlands regions join the North East, South West and Dublin regions live on PASS. The remaining three regions, Mid East, West and North West will join PASS in the second half of 2013 to ensure all regions are live on PASS in 2013.

Dr Briege Casey presented with DCU President's Award for Excellence in Teaching 2012-2013
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Briege Casey, Chair of the Certificate Programme in Homeless Prevention and Intervention and Director of Teaching and Learning, DCU School of Nursing and Human Sciences was presented with the “Special Award for Distinctive Teaching Approaches” in the DCU President’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching 2012/13. We would like to congratulate Briege on her well deserved award for her outstanding contributions to DCU's Teaching and Learning activities and to thank her for her enthusiasm and on-going dedication and support to staff from the Homeless services and related sectors who participate in the annual Certificate Programme in Homeless Prevention and Intervention.
