There were 553 families prevented from becoming homeless in Dublin during the period June 2014 - March 2015 under a prevention initiative led by the four Dublin local authorities and delivered by the Tenancy Protection Service (TPS), operated by Threshold.

Housing Assistance Payment for Homeless Households

The Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) Scheme is a new form of social housing support, which is currently being introduced by local authorities across Ireland. HAP will mean local authorities can now provide housing assistance to households with a long term housing need by enabling households to find accommodation within the private rented sector.

Increased Demand for Services in Dublin
Tenancy Protection Service

The Dublin local authority homeless services responsible for assessing the needs of families and placing them into emergency accommodation are managing an unprecedented demand for their services in the Dublin region. This is primarily as a result of people losing their accommodation in the private rented sector.

105 Persons identified as sleeping rough in Dublin
Rough Sleeper Count Spring 2015

105 persons were identified as sleeping rough across the Dublin region on the night of the Spring Count (April 2015). The figure of 105  is compared with the winter (November 2014) count, which identified 168 persons to be sleeping rough. This is a decrease of 63 persons or 38%.
