London Calling: Learning and Lessons in using Rapid Build housing solutions to end family homelessness in 2016

Over the course of two days in July (21st and 22nd), Dublin City Council was delighted to host a presentation by Lewisham Borough Council for councillors from the four Dublin Local Authorities and technical and professional staff, and officials from the Department of Housing to demonstrate how a rapid build housing programme was used to successfully meet the needs of homeless families in London.   Watch the recorded event here.

Lewisham Borough Council in partnership with international renowned architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, AECOM Engineering and SIG Construction have delivered a rapid-build family housing scheme that brings innovative and cutting edge architectural design and construction methods to the delivery of modern, spacious and adaptable apartments.

The PLACE/Ladywell Rapid-Build Family Housing Scheme is off-site manufactured, well designed and sustainable accommodation using a quick and cost-effective technology. The homes were built in 12 weeks for 24 families in need of accommodation.  If you would like to know more about this successful project, please click here.
